Beatitudes is J.Rocc’s new beat tape for Stones Throw, which follows his full length album, A Wonderful Letter, released earlier this year on the label. Beatitudes goes back to the artist’s routes as a DJ and turntablist and is made up of ten instrumental hip-hop tracks inspired by 20th century gospel recordings. The cover pays homage to the work of a painter known only as Harvey, an artist who created nearly 200 sleeves in the 1960s for gospel and jazz albums on Savoy Records and its subsidiary labels Gospel, Regent, and Sharp.
